We started the day off right – and without walking out into the cold. The short elevator ride led us back down to the hotel restaurant for cappuccino’s and a yummy breakfast.
Me: “Office Benedict” – jumbo lump crab, poached eggs, roasted tomatoes, avocado and a bernaise sauce with office browns.
Brad: “Veggie Frittata” – egg whites, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and cheddar cheese with toast and office browns.
We walked around LoDo (lower downtown area) and discovered some cool places and enjoyed the crisp air and amazing architecture. Denver is surprisingly cooler (and not just weather-wise, haha) than I thought! We skipped lunch and instead popped into Mangiamo Pronto! for a light snack before enjoying our incredible dinner.
Lunch snack: Cappuccino and Sugar Cane Cola along with a warmed apple croissant and a chocolate croissant.
And now… FOGO DE CHAO … This is a Brazilian Steakhouse that I first discovered in San Antonio with my co-worker Jackie. There are several throughout the country (website here), so if you are lucky enough to come across one, please go – unless you are a vegetarian.
It was VERY fun to watch Brad experience this for the first time. A native of Texas and a self-proclaimed meat lover, he was quickly overwhelmed and confused- it was great! If you have never been, you start with a giant salad bar. With everything from fresh mozzarella and strips of bacon to cold asparagus and olives, you can make a salad any way you want! When you are ready for the guachos to bring you meat, you flip over the card on your table and they come swarming. You can start and stop as many times as needed, but I will warn you, it’s hard to stop. You are also served three traditional sides in addition to the traditional pao de queijo – the most amazing bread and cheese mix on the planet! I PROMISE!! The three sides are mashed potatoes, crispy polenta and carmelized bananas – also good, but pale in comparison to the meat selections. I would love to share pictures but it was a little too dark in the restaurant for my iPhone – perhaps I see an iPhone 4 with the flash in my future 🙂
Brad loved the lamb and for some reason, the pork ribs really spoke to me – go figure!
