Today was my first experience with a crawfish boil. It was amazing. We had a few close friends and a lot of fun. The winners of today were Lance and Whitney, AKA Mr and Mrs Crawfish. It’s pretty safe to say that of the 25 pounds of Louisianna Crawfish we had overnighted, they consumed the most (both individually and collectively).
So the other day Brad got an inkling for crawfish. I’m not sure where it came from but after debating for a week if it would be worth it, he finally decided to have it shipped to us. So this morning, FedEX brought this:
And yes, it is filled with 25 pounds of live crawfish. (If you would like to order your own, check it out here.)
Although we were a little late for Mardi Gras, we were still able to enjoy the tradition. Maybe not exactly how they do it in New Orleans, but we made it work – with a newspaper covered table and all.
You would think that with seven people consuming 25 pounds of crawfish you wouldn’t need sides, wrong! We had corn on the cob, potatoes and sausage (all boiled in the deep fryer with the crawfish), crab and shrimp dip with bread and dirty rice. Later we had another one of my yummy bundt creations: chocolate bundt with whipped cream, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
